Ton Mak solo exhibition "How Do You Dough"

Come and visit the solo exhibition "How Do You Dough" by former artist-in-residence Ton Mak.

FLABJACKS represents a series of weirdly and wonderfully wild chubby creatures created by visual artist Ton Mak. The friendly creatures live in a wonderland from afar, with stories of their own. The art forms are best known for representing seemingly mundane situations and objects in everyday life. The works have a light hearted and simple positive energy to them.

Ton’s playful approach in the FLABJACKS series is underpinned by an obsession with the topic of animism. The belief that our material world also embodies supernatural powers of its own, filled with phenomenological potentials. Whether they are humans, strange creatures, or wild beings, FLABJACKS believe that even seemingly “dead” objects have souls of their own. “How Do You Dough?” hopes to bring a sense of familiarity to children and adults alike, by reimagining mundane objects, food forms and happenings.
