Former artist-in-residence Eva Borner at Les Tanneries

Come and view former artist-in-residence Eva Borner's installation Dingzihù at Les Tanneries, Amilly.

Dingzihù is a video and sound installation running simultaneously on 3 screens created by Swiss artist Eva Borner during her residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel.

This vast immersive installation plunges the viewer into a neighborhood of Shanghai and documents its destruction. The title of the film refers to the "nail houses" in Shanghai whose owners refuse to quit despite the ongoing forced urbanization and reconstruction works that impact their close environment. With her installation Eva Borner protests against this forced urban modernization.

It features dancer and choreographer Iker Arrue, also a former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, and aims to convey an existential experience combining suffering and hopes. To put her video to music, the artist worked in studio with a trio of musicians: bassist Markus Fischer, saxophonist Christian Kobi and sound designer Hans Peter Gutjahr.
