'Seagull' by Max Cavallari
Mao Space, with the special support of PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai 2019 and the Italian Culture Institute in Shanghai, presents “SEAGULL” - the first solo exhibition of Italian photographer and former artist-in-residence Max Cavallari.
Curated by Silvia Vannacci, the exhibition will run from September 20 till October 10, 2019 at Mao Space, 112 Tianping Road, Shanghai.
“SEAGULL”, a selection of photographs from a series of shots taken during the artist’s residency at Swatch Art Peace Hotel Artist Residency earlier this year, presents glimpses from a process of wandering and grasping today's China. In a world of visual hypertrophy full of phone-size screen swiped images, where pictures are taken with a consumeristic approach that spoils the quality and aesthetics of photos, the artist has chosen to discover China through the lenses of a Seagull 4A, a Shanghainese twin lens reflex from the 1960s.
