Ting Gong TRANS MOMENT

Come and discover the latest exhibition by former artist-in-residence and fashion designer Ting Gong. Together with Gong, the gallery Lugtje wishes to introduce their new space and the unique concepts behind her exhibition.

In a traditional Chinese garden, one hardly finds a perfect location from which the whole landscape of the garden can be observed. Enjoying a Chinese garden is less about gaining an all-encompassing view. Rather, it is about You (“游”, meaning, to wander, to swim, and to drift). As an aesthetic concept, “You” favours the kind of art that allows one to dwell and proposes a form of embodied spectatorship that encourages one to fully sense the surrounding.

Ting Gong (1989 CN) asks how our contemporary world can be conceived through presence and absence. The subtle alteration, metamorphosis, and transformation of things remain her central interest in making. Her practice in fashion, performance and installation art enable her to create a unique artistic language that materializes her research in clothes and clothing-like objects.
