"The project “Particulate Matter” deals with the relationship between revival and decline and reflects the consequences that result from excessive economic growth and the combustion of carbonbased fuels. The images of the project are reminiscent of romantic paintings from the 19th century and depict Chinese cities disappearing in a haze of soft pastel hues of man-made air pollution. Their seemingly deceptive romantic aesthetics unsparingly disclose their true meaning by the titles of the respective images.
