Donal Turner

"The Swatch Art Peace Hotel’s building has a long history and its visitors could almost picture the generations of people who have been through its walls. For me, it is this history which gives abstract weight to the place. My illustrations are an attempt to echo this abstract weight by unfolding the stories which happened inside this sumptuous pink building inside an accordion-shaped book, very French. I thank all the artists that have participated in the project. They gave me both their physical time and recordings (audio, text, photo) which I used along with my own experience in room 22 as the book’s basis.
