"These two poems were written while staying at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. Though they differ in both structure and aesthetics, they are both strongly connected to my experience of life in China. “Aujourd’hui ou il y a mille ans” (今日或千年前, Yesterday or One Thousand Years Ago) reflects on memories of the northern regions of China, though the poem displaces them out of our timeframe. « Le gué » (津, The Ford) uses the ideas of the ford (river-crossing) as a metaphor for life: it was inspired directly by the view on Huangpu River from the Library where I loved to sit and work."
