Concession
"For my trace, I have written a short story set in Shanghai, “Concession,” written during my residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, with scenes referencing the Bund and The Palace (Swatch) Hotel.
The story is primarily set in the French Concession, and involves two men involved in a romantic relationship. After spending time wandering through the old French quarter, and really absorbing the layers of architecture and history, I wanted to explore the idea of “concession” on a more intimate level. With any concession it is rare that both parties are totally satisfied - concession by nature often means injury." (Leah Griesmann)
