New artist arrival: Jia Xi Li

Chinese visual artist and sculptor Jia Xi Li arrives at the artist residence.

Jia Xi is a Chinese Canadian artist based in London. She makes sculpture, wall pieces, and installations in solidified knitted textile. Her art materialises personal involuntary memory, revealing the complexity of domestic objects mirroring existence, history, and behaviour. Each piece encapsulates an archived time and memory, triggered by emotions and senses, embodying the intangible 'home' of a contemporary urban nomad.

During her residency the artist plans to do a research journey exploring the vague concept of 'home' and visualize her biographical odyssey through a series of sculptures.
