Xiaoyi Gao is a visual artist active in the field of painting as well as textile art and installation. She currently lives and works in Chengdu (China).

During her residency the artist plans to create a body of work consisting of paintings on fabrics such as clothing, curtains, sheets etc.. Using these intimate materials is in her eyes a way to read Shanghai from a different perspective.
