Zhou Yan's film at the Beijing International Film Festival

Former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Zhou Yan's documentary Kobbar will be screened at the Beijing International Film Festival.

Kobbar is a 73 min long creative documentary produced by former artist-in-residence Zhou Yan about the inmates in Kumla prison in Sweden. Kumla is known as the Underground Kingdom. Inside the largest Swedish A-rate prison, the corridors connecting every section are covered with artwork done by inmates with the support from established artists.
 

The documentary follows Cecilia Jansson - another former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel - during her work with the prisoners at Kumla.

The 7th Beijing International Film Festival will take place between the 16th and the 23rd of April 2017, and Kobbar will be shown as part of the screening events during the course of the Festival at the National Library of China.
