"For the Biennale I made two projects referring to the Asian fairy tale “The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl” One was hand knotted silk carpets depicting weavers in rural China. The other work I created during the biennale by stitching and using assemblage making an image on textile showing birds flying of the roof of the high security prison in Sweden where I had recently been working, making a decoration with the inmates. My biennale project was about the feeling of being connected and important. I think the subject fitted well with Swatch´s engagement in the artworld in Shanghai, Venice and many other places around the world, connecting people thru creativity." (Cecilia Jansson)
