For 15 years the Swatch Art Peace Hotel has hosted artists passing through Shanghai, arriving with unfinished ideas and different ways of working.
This work was made through proximity rather than distant observation. Each image (almost) was made collaboratively with the artists in residence, shaped by shared space, time, and mutual decision-making. These are not portraits taken from afar, but traces formed from working alongside one another. They are an archive of a temporary community – practices interesting and reforming, always in transit, in translation.
