Fang Xiang 方翔

"During my residency, I could observe many seagulls on the Huangpu River in front of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. They are migratory birds who have come here to hibernate. Natural history is the subject of my artistic creation, and birds are also the subject of my recent research. The background of this work is a map of the Bund in Shanghai. I want to connect the elements I have been studying at this place. In front of the picture, there is a child sculpture with butterfly wings. I learned sculpture technique from another artist here. Butterflies and birds fly and stay, just like the artists here." (Fang Xiang, 2021)
