Tracing Shanghai Street 2
"Drawing begins with a hand-traced image of a Shanghai street, but the final composition is shaped by the uncontrolled movement of ink through the paper. The bleeding marker transforms the familiar urban scene into a fragmented field of dots and stains, where memory and chance become inseparable. Evoking traditional printing processes, the work reflects on the dense visual culture of everyday life and the constant transformation of the city’s historic streets." (Miha Štrukelj, 2026)
Tracing Shanghai Street 1
"The drawing reduces the complexity of an urban street to a sparse network of pencil marks, dots, and lines. The image emerges only through the viewer’s visual memory, inviting the eye to connect fragments into a familiar scene. By tracing an everyday street in Shanghai, the work reflects on how places are remembered, reconstructed, and perceived. The drawing transforms the city’s visual density into a quiet, minimal language, where absence becomes as significant as the marks themselves" (Miha Štrukelj, 2026)
