Yaolan Luo's Solo Exhibition 'NO END OF'

Former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Yaolan Luo is showing her recent works in her solo exhibition "NO END OF（此地无垠)" at the Duende Art Museum (巽美术馆) in Shunde, Guangdong, China. The exhibition lasts until March 15th. 

In her works the artist employs a range of media, including machines generated by 3D prints and a robot system, as well as pigments such as Chinese ink, acrylic, oil and watercolor. In cultivating a form of intelligent consciousness, the artist programmed her machines using the language of c/c++ that replicates a basic neurotransmitter network. The machines are guided by a bundle of designed algorithms set to number chosen arbitrarily, therefore the system incorporates both degrees of logics and randomness. The result is graphically reproduced on the paper – a pictorial representation of the relationship between a coded text file and a movement – with periodic interventions by the artist in changing color, media and her own aesthetic contributions. Forming an almost symbiotic relationship, both human and machine alternate “turns”, adding layer by layer, color by color, day by day.
