The Birth of Everything But Venus

"I created a digital art film called "The Birth of Everything but Venus" inspired by Botticelli's painting "The Birth of Venus". The work depicts a strange world devoid of humans, much like my previous works, inhabited only by various strange plants, dancing giant seashells, elusive planets, surging waves, and glowing seawater.

I chose not to include Venus in my work because I wanted to avoid telling the story through the lens of humans. In my view, the beauty and power of nature will endure far longer than humanity, as the world existed long before humans came into being and will continue to exist long after we are gone.

In the absence of the goddess Venus, the flying seashells became the most important element in the film. They dance in the waves, like a dreamy movement, leading the audience through time and space, into a magical world. In this world, the seawater is also extraordinary. It emits light and interacts with plants and shells, like energy from an unknown universe. Without human existence, nature and fantasy elements combine to create a harmonious whole.

Compared to the science fiction world of traditional cyberpunk aesthetics, I hope to present a more humble attitude through this work, encouraging humans to focus more on the natural world beyond humans and not view humanity as the ruler of the world." (Bi Luo, 2023)
