"My creative process involves digitally manipulating archival images to craft a narrative that seamlessly blends reality with imaginative fiction, conveyed through techniques such as etching, animation, and textiles. 
Through my artwork, I aim to shed light on the silent reverberations of violence on future generations and the therapeutic role that art plays in comprehending and coping with inherited trauma. "This series of works is based on a reinterpretation of archival material that I discovered during my residency in Shanghai. Using unknown family albums as a foundation, I reinterpreted these images with Chinese ink, followed by textile or pastel applications. The three pieces I have left as a legacy for the Swatch Art Peace Hotel each represent different stages of my creative process during the residency. I refer to these as different states of translating an image, akin to how memory processes and comprehends what lies beneath the surface." (Elián Stolarsky, 2024)
