"This series of works is based on a reinterpretation of archival material that I discovered during my residency in Shanghai. Using unknown family albums as a foundation, I reinterpreted these images with Chinese ink, followed by textile or pastel applications. The three pieces I have left as a legacy for the Swatch Art Peace Hotel each represent different stages of my creative process during the residency. I refer to these as different states of translating an image, akin to how memory processes and comprehends what lies beneath the surface." (Elián Stolarsky, 2024)
