"I use flowers to describe the male gaze because in China, flowers are often used as a metaphor for the "womanizer." During my residency, I created a series of paintings that explore the themes of male gaze and objectification of women. This painting was the first in the series and sets the main theme. Miss Boo represents every woman who desires to feel sexy while also worrying about her safety in the outside world." (Xuanchen Fan, 2023)
