"My residency at Swatch was one of the most rewarding experiences of my artistic career. 6 months in such a beautifully designed, supportive environment gave me the time to really focus on my project. As an American born Chinese artist, Swatch gave me the privilege of feeling safe and comfortable while exploring other less developed regions in China. The opportunity to live and work with so many talented international artists was priceless. My trace is a prototype that I designed for a pop-up book exposition in Shanghai which was fabricated to 5 x 2.5 meters. This project inspired me to work at a scale that I continue to work in. When I returned to the USA, I designed my bedroom to look like my bedroom at Swatch. If only real life could be like a residency at Swatch." (Colette Fu)
