The Swatch Art Peace Hotel artist residency is designed to bring together artists from around the world to experience a unique cultural environment dedicated to contemporary art in the extraordinary city of Shanghai. 
The focus of the residency is on creative exchange. Artists are free to engage in individual or joint projects.

What is the artist residency?

A broad range of contemporary art is at the very heart of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. Its artist residency welcomes known and unknown artists from around the world, to live and work in apartments and workshops for a period of three to six months. Dancers, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, writers, painters, conceptual artists, and many more creative individuals from around the world live and work in the Swatch Art Peace Hotel’s workshops and apartments and explore the contemporary arts in China’s most vibrant city.

At the end of their stay, all participants are asked to leave an artistic “trace” of their choice.

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel invites artists from around the world to apply online for a residency in this extraordinary city. The applications are reviewed by an international committee whose efforts ensure that a broad range of artistic disciplines, styles and national origins is represented.

 

At present, the members of the Artist Selection Committee are: Nayla Hayek, Chair of the Board of Directors, Swatch Group; Nick Hayek, CEO, Swatch Group; George Clooney, Actor; François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO, Kering; Mikhail Kusnirovich, Russian Entrepreneur and Chairman of the Strategic Development Committee of the Department Store GUM; Sir Francis Yeoh, Chairman of YTL Group.
