New artist arrival: Valentin Rilliet

Swiss visual artist and painter Valentin Rilliet arrives at the artist residence.

Valentin Rilliet (b.1996) is a Swiss-Chinese artist currently working in Zürich, who holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the Slade School of Fine Art in London and an MFA in Fine Arts from the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Working predominantly in oil painting, he explores intersections of Eastern and Western folklore, myth, and history, crafting layered, ambiguous narratives through magical realism that question the authenticity of cultural references. Drawing on historical and personal archives, his work invites viewers to contemplate the fluid boundaries between documented and imagined events.
