The Swatch Art Peace Hotel at Arty Show Biel/Bienne 2025
From August 28 to September 21, 2025, we will proudly host a very special exhibition at Arty Show Biel/Bienne 2025: WORDS BREATHE ART.
WORDS BREATHE ART is a celebration of collaboration between former artists-in-residence Swiss painter Philip Royce Earnhart and Austrian writer Roland Schwarz who met in Shanghai at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel.
Their unique project brings a powerful idea to life: that a single book can transform a person’s path. Through striking visual storytelling, they turn ten compelling stories of people whose lives have been transformed by a single book, into images that inspire reflection and connection.
Come experience these stories through art at Arty Show Biel/Bienne 2025.
Featured artists
Philip Royce Earnhart is a Swiss multi-disciplinary artist. Deeply influenced by the early loss of his brother and a strong empathy for outsiders, he broke away from his roots in religious fundamentalism to pursue an artistic path centered on connection and emotional truth. His work explores the tension between light and darkness, grief and resilience, oppression and freedom—realms he navigates through a layered visual language that invites emotion, curiosity, and reflection.
Roland Schwarz is a writer and story collector from Austria. During his college years he was overtaken by wanderlust. He studied and later worked as a teacher in various European countries, as well as in the USA. Wherever he goes, he collects inspiring, humorous and memorable anecdotes of people and their favorite books. He lives in Prague, the hometown of Franz Kafka. It is there where he discovered his passion for writing.
During the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a series of scheduled events:
- August 28, 2025, 5:00 pm – Vernissage, open to the public
- September 6, 2025, 10:00 am – Meet the artist with Philip Earnhart, featuring a special tour of the exhibition
