Swatch brings art from around the world to Zurich
Swatch Art Peace Hotel to exhibit artworks from 13 international former artists-in-residence for the first time at Zurich Art Weekend
From its early days, Swatch has been passionate about art. Since 2011, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel has been giving aspiring artists around the world the unique opportunity to apply for a residency to live and pursue their creative vision for a few months in Shanghai.
From June 9 to 11, one week before Art Basel opens its doors, Zurich will become the hot spot for the international art scene and art enthusiasts. Swatch is excited to announce that for the very first time, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel will be present in Zurich Art Weekend, the annual three-day art initiative that brings together Zurich’s major public and private art institutions through a variety of initiatives and events.
As one of the cultural institutions that take part in Zurich Art Weekend 2023, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel will present «Art from the World» featuring artworks from 13 former artists-in-residence from 8 different countries. The exhibition that will take place from June 3 to 25 at Löwenbräukunst showcases the diversity and cultural mix of the residency.
On June 9, as part of the exhibition’s vernissage, Swatch has invited Saype the contemporary artist and pioneer of a new land art movement to give an Art Talk during which he will unveil his latest art project in collaboration with the brand. Inspired by the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, Saype, who was ranked in 2019 by Forbes magazine among the thirty most influential people under the age of thirty in the fields of arts and culture, created two giant ephemeral artworks featuring children dreaming of space travel and the sky, with Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes as his canvas. The talk will be animated by Carlo Giordanetti – CEO of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. Both will be available for interviews on site.
